Last vegan restaurant I visited in Portland was a late dinner meal. After leaving a brewery, my friend and I were hungry and looked for a place that was still open. We found Off the Griddle with good reviews on Yelp and decided to drive over.
Off-the-Griddle offers a brunch and a dinner menu. All their items are prepared vegan except dairy cheese and egg items. I didn’t have a chance to try their brunch items, but it looked really good.
Some example of items from their brunch menu are:
Brunch Wrap Supreme – soyrizo, herb tofu, tostada, greens, pico de gallo, “cheese” sauce, sour cream, wrapped in a flour tortilla and your choice of a side of salad or fries
Awesome Plate – half a waffle, maple syrup, tempeh bacon, fresh greens and your choice of herb tofu or two eggs. You can also upgrade your waffle to a pumpkin cheesecake or berries & cream waffle.
I ordered:
Smokey Bleu Burger – O.T.G. (Off-the-Griddle) Patty, house-made BBQ sauce, spinach, red onion, tempeh bacon, topped with house-made bleu “cheese”
Loaded Fries – spicy buffalo & “cheese” sauce
Crunchy Dill – tempura pickle spears, hand battered tempura & house-made zesty “ranch”
Since I visited late at night, I only got to order from the dinner menu. The Smokey Bleu Burger was so good! It tasted like a real burger. The portion is huge so if you can’t eat a lot you should order one to share! Fries and pickles were great as well. Lots of fried food in one sitting!

I can’t say Off the Griddle is a healthy vegan spot, but it definitely tastes great. I’m sure non-vegans will love it too! Their food is definitely close to the real thing and maybe even better!
