Dish n Dash

This is a new Middle Eastern spot that opened up in Cupertino. It used to be an Islands, but I’m really glad Dish n Dash replaced them! Dish n Dash is a chain restaurant in the Silicon Valley, South Bay. They have a fine dining (table service) location in Sunnyvale and Milpitas and four casual dining (counter service) locations in San Jose, Cupertino, Sunnyvale and Fremont.

At this location, you order at the counter and then sit down. They will bring your food to you. The space is big with lots of tables.

There’s quite a few vegan options. Usually Middle Eastern food is pretty vegan friendly.

The menu includes starters, wraps, sandwiches, rice/freekah plates, salads and sides. For the rice/freekah plates, you choose a protein (or main item) plus a side. You also have a choice of rice or freekah. Freekah is roasted green wheat. They also have a smoothie menu. I tried some of my friend’s smoothie and it was good!

I ordered:

Buffalo Cauliflower Wings

Freekeh with Roasted Veggies and Almond Basil-Tahini Sauce

The Buffalo Cauliflower Wings starter was amazing! It was smothered in buffalo sauce and the cauliflower was soft and tender. It could almost pass for the real thing! I personally would enjoy the cauliflower option over real chicken wings. It was very flavorful. For my entree I chose a main item of roasted veggies over freekeh. I chose hummus as my side. It was actually my first time trying freekeh and I am a big fan! It has this nutty flavor and soft, grainy texture to it. The veggies were roasted perfectly. All plates also come with pita bread. Dipping the pita in hummus was so yummy! I was so full after my dish. The portions are huge.

Another vegan option they have are falafels. I was honestly deciding between the roasted veggies or falafels. I tried one of my friend’s falafels and it was really good! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It wasn’t overly fried either.

Dish n Dash is a great casual restaurant to meet up and hang out with friends or family! There’s lots of parking available and a lot of tables inside as well. The food is fresh and very flavorful. There’s quite a few vegan options to choose from as well!
